Mary MacKillop Centre visit

              Mary MacKillop Center

“ There are actually two different types of sisters, the Brown Jo’s and the Black Jo’s, I came from the Black Jo’s!” said Sister Colleen. As we are sitting on the mat, made from sheep’s wool, we are listening to some of the Josephite Sisters telling us about their past and what they did at schools. I think to myself… “ What a long way for them to travel, just so they could go and teach at Christ The King Catholic School!” I wondered how they managed to get up really early in the morning to catch a ride and travel such a distance.

I turn my head to the curtains and suddenly I feel the warmth of the beautiful sunshine. The rays are like a rainbow shining through a waterfall. I see another sister sitting right in front of the window. She looks very cheerful and happy. The other sisters sit patiently and wait for their turn to say something and tell us about themselves. I feel really calm and welcome in the Josephite Sisters’ home. It makes me happy to see all these women who have committed their life to God.Screenshot 2014-10-21 at 2.10.03 PM.png
